Pope Francis will address Congress

Catholic " carnival " in Congress-Reed has tickets !  As both a Catholic and a democratic Socialist I commend this pope for his sensitive social conscience. But Pope Francis did not " reform " Catholic social philosophy-which if taken seriously could make numerous " socialist " organizations almost superfluous. But here in the United States we have numerous Church leaders in open alliance with the Republican. Party, the party of Ayn Rand.
Catholic social philosophy goes back to the first century AD. But the Catholic Tradition has been often buried by the Hypocrisy Tradition.The original Saint Francis revived the Catholic Tradition.
I read that American socialist writer Michael Harrington , author of " The Other America ( a book that influenced the 60s War on Poverty ), was inspired by Catholic social philosophy.
The New Atheism has been bashing the Catholic Church for more than a decade now.It is falsely associating it with politically incorrect " hatred ". Oddly enough, you will not find a New Atheist who is an open supporter of " socialism ". The vocal New Atheists are mostly libertarians or members of the Ayn Rand cult. Ayn Rand was a militant atheist.Her cult book is fittingly titled " The Virtue of Selfishness.She is the patron saint of the Center for Freedom and Prosperity in Rhode Island.
The Ayn Rand cult sees no need to apply Logic & Reason to the highly irrational, insanely unjust capitalist system.
As for God's existence or non-existence ponder these words of a character in a Dostoevsky novel ( " The Possessed " ) : " If God does not exist, then everything is permitted ".
