Ancient " immigration crisis " : Great Caesar Meets the Helvetians

Interesting article on Caesar in Gaul  Two haunting thoughts about this " unprecedented immigration crisis ". As a democratic Socialist and a Catholic I am intellectually uncomfortable spreading alarm about the world's exponential growth. I remember reading the late science writer  Isaac Asimov on this topic : a nightmarish picture of the human population doubling every 35 years. Would Malthus have the last " sick laugh " ?
Even without complicating political factors it is still reckless to bring children into such a world. And that seems depressingly ANTI-LIFE.
I also find haunting the words of Karl Marx in his Communist Manifesto of 1848 : the workers of the world have no country ?
I recall historical precedents for the harsh treatment of migrant populations. From First Year Latin : Great Caesar meets the Helvetians.
          I also recall a dear mother's cliche : " Count your blessings !  "

A First Year Latin memory
