As a democratic Socialist I don't hesitate to give critical support to the
" socialist " Democrat Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont. No sectarian
socialist parties or organizations should assume that they have a patent
on the SOCIALIST program. In the United States there is also a very
frustrated but decent and educated middle class not hostile to the idea
of a non-violent socialist " revolution ".
The future leaders of ANY really PROGRESSIVE movement will be persons who can hear the voice of the working class, who can TALK to ordinary working class people . There are individuals who call themselves socialists who never make contact with the real working class. They lack the crusading spirit of the greatest American socialist, Eugene V. Debs . Read his famous anti-war " Canton Speech ". Not a hint of the mere "crank " here. Bernie Sanders can learn from the hero of his youth . Talk to that picture on your wall, Bernie . Listen to Debs !
Perhaps Sanders might inspire a Third Party movement.Real SOCIALISM !
