So many evils of American capitalist society have become painfully obvious during the course of Pandemic 2020 . Our mostly FOR PROFIT hospitals, nursing homes, MAKE-A-BUCK medical doctors and dentists - URGENT CARE centers for the well to do- are a disgrace to humanity.
How to explain -judging from the soaring stock market - why the rich keep getting richer when life is hell for everybody else ?
ONLY democratic socialists -NOT connected to the so called " far left " of the Democratic Party- explain that everywhere the capitalist system is based on exploitation and oppression. And RACISM has a mostly CLASS basis. Both Malcolm X and Martin Luther King - both mysteriously assassinated - were leaning toward some form of socialism. My favorite Malcolm X quote : " Show me a capitalist and I will show you a blood sucker ! "
Yet our legions of high school and college students are taught not even to IMAGINE a different " Way of Life . Any public school teacher or radio talk show host who dissents from the pro-capitalist party line ( the party line of the TWO PARTY SYSTEM , of " OUR democracy ") can expect a very short career.
And since the 2016 shock ( TRUMP WINS ! ) the Democratic Party has promoted a pernicious HATE RUSSIA , New McCarthyism .
How can WE survive a nuclear war when we can hardly deal with hurricanes, blizzards, forest fires, and epidemics ?

Hi Ron,
I downloaded an interesting FREE bird identifying app and had it conduct a search based on your photo, geographic location, date , etc.
Pretty interesting. The app named "Merlin" is provided by Cornell University. It can also identify birds by recorded sounds.
So, at first try it tentatively identified your bird as a "King Eider" or a "Wood Duck". (See 3 attached screenshots)
There was another possibility that it could be some rare bird which you'll see, but I lost the name and wasn't able to replicate it.
But I don't think it was a "black swan" which would be so fitting for these times.

I am generally pleased with and appreciative of ALL public libraries . Just ONE public health suggestion: could this library and other public libraries please put up a poster reminding chronic coughers to avoid contaminating the air ? Perhaps they can offer the chronic cougher a face mask or a box of facial tissues.
You would think the staff would take some responsibility here . Is it so rude or politically incorrect to enforce public health standards ?
One frequent cougher at the Warwick Public Library was identified as a one time resident of Harrington Hall ( for the homeless ) in Cranston. A friend described Harrington Hall as sounding like a 19th century tuberculosis ward. He should know as he had to spend one horrible night there.]

The specter of " socialism " in the Democratic Party

As a life long INDEPENDENT democratic socialist I think that only political illiteracy can explain this weird and false belief that the Democratic Party has anything resembling a democratic socialist agenda. Even that milk toast socialist Bernie Sanders compromises with " OUR way of life " , even this restrained " free market " capitalism ". Nor do any of these " progressive " ( meaning socialist sympathizers ) Democrats speak out with any credible passion against many century old socialist justice issues: tell THEIR president-elect to oppose the death penalty, dismantle our nuclear weapons system, oppose ALL imperialist interventions in foreign countries. Above all NATIONALIZE all vital industries and natural resources. ABOLISH homelessness in the United States by limiting all landlord PRIVATE PROPERTY rights . Compel all licensed medical doctors and dentists to accept ALL Medicare and Medicaid patients in the interests of a real national health care program.
Abolish FOR PROFIT hospitals and nursing homes .

Radical Ron did not vote in 2020 - and why
As a democratic socialist I could not vote for Biden or Trump in the 2020 presidential election. But did not the Democrats from day one in 2016 seek to discredit Trump's election as a Russia hatched conspiracy ? I thought his election in 2016 was at least as legitimate as the flawed Elector College system permits . It is just the Electoral College system which stymies ALL third parties - on the Left and on the eight in " OUR democracy ".
NOTE : I could not vote either for totalitarian " Marxist " parties - all petrified Marxism, Leninism, Trotskyism with some BIG BROTHER waiting in the wings .

No war on Iran !
If mainstream news media reports - always deceitful - are true, President Trump was just talked out of an international war crime - a surprise bombing of Iran . Since Iran is still a puny threat to the security of the United States, the real democratic socialists of the world ( not based in the Democratic Party ) can surmise that Trump wanted to do a spectacular and horrendous favor for our oh-so-Democratic ally in the Middle East Zionist Apartheid Israel. I doubt if the militant Zionist clique in the oh-so progressive Democratic Party would strongly condemn Trump- still popular in Israel - for this definite war crime.
An Iran without nuclear weapons would be a rational response to an Israel without nuclear weapons, to a United States without nuclear weapons .
Clearly the United States has been devastated by the Corona virus pandemic - a national emergency . We can hardly cope with this national emergency : What " crackpot realism " ( to use American radical sociologist C. Wright Mills'phrase ) would advise ANY US president that nuclear war is winnable and limitable ?
DEFUND THE AMERICAN MILITARY makes just as much sense in 2020 as DEFUND THE POLICE.
Both Malcolm X and Martin Luther King were openly anti-capitalist and anti-imperialist at the end of their lives ( both suspiciously assassinated ) .
They made a connection between racism and capitalism , between racism and imperialism.

Sober Republicans -not Trump die hards - have every reason to suspect SUDDEN DEATH results in a half dozen battleground states controlled by Democratic Party machines as corrupt as ever.
But a national government meltdown might be avoided if the Congress and the Senate can declare - without changing the Electoral College stature in the next election -that the winner of the 2020 presidential election is the winner of POPULAR VOTE. Guess who ? And get the Supreme Court to bless the bipartisan decision as justified by a national emergency. The votes counts and recounts after November 3rd not being above suspicion for either side.

President Donald Trump seems more like a " Last Hurrah " conservative than an American Hitler.

As a lifelong democratic socialist I could not even find a " lesser evil " in the 2020 American presidential election. The Electoral College system seems to defy popular democracy in principle. Granted that Joe Biden, like Hillary Clinton in 2016, won the popular vote, the American Constitution still recognizes the Electoral College as decisive . The sudden -and suspicious- change of fate for President Trump in contested states like Pennsylvania will make the election of Joe Biden seem rigged ( by DEEP STATE ?) to millions of Trump supporters. Could WE THE PEOPLE end up with a dual presidency with Trump the New York City based president and Joe Biden based in the White House ?
Remember ancient Rome once had two kings !
I could not find even a lesser evil third party presidential candidate. Not WHO but WHAT hates President Trump ?
I am a longtime independent democratic socialist. In 2016 , a letter of mine published in the Providence Journal gave critical support to " socialist " Democrat Bernie Sanders. Bernie attracted an excited crowd of some 7000 to Rogers Williams Park on a pleasant sunny day in April. Later that month he won the Rhode Island presidential Primary Election. " OUR democracy " in Rhode Island , led by " liberal " governor Gina Raimondo, delivered the nominating votes to Hillary Clinton at the national convention.
The first victim of the DNC based New McCarthyism was Bernie Sanders and his followers. They were smeared as having a " propensity for violence " and being soft on Vladimir Putin's post-communist Russia. Then more than three years of " Russia collusion " investigation lunacy. Happily Trump survived the impeachment vote. I speak on the " far Left " !
The source of the HATE RUSSIA hysteria was most certainly DEEP STATE , the CIA , the Pentagon, high level generals and admirals in the Army ,Navy, and Air Force .
IT - the satanic , sinister military industrial complex - not Trump's abrasive personality , his " racism " , sexism , homophobia , ( anti-Semitism ??? )- is behind the daily smearing of Trump . " Liberal " Democrats have been slobbering over DEEP STATE institutions : the FBI , the CIA , Pentagon generals and admirals. Has Joe Biden set himself up as a foe of the notorious " military industrial complex " ? As a foe of stupid and endless new wars in the Middle East , as a peace maker with nuclear armed Russia and China ?
