[ my blog shortly after Moore was injured ]
| |||
Scott Avedisian of RIPTA was quick to blame the victim of yet another bus accident tragedy. 31 year old Bobbie Moore was reported as being in " tough , tough shape " at Rhode Island Hospital in the Thursday, May 21, Providence Journal. Bobbie was nearly crushed to death while trying to board a Broad St. bus on Wednesday.
In fact - if the poor woman does not survive , and if a number of eye witness statements are accurate- RIPTA should face a charge of vehicular homicide.
One witness said : " She was banging on the bus so she could get on, and he just kept going slowly and then he ran right over her, and he had to stop because everyone was screaming ". ( Pauline Goss " who had just gotten off the bus ... " )
A RIPTA rider said this in May 30 , 2014 article ( " RIPTA drivers, riders, reflect on system in wake of fatal accident " ) [ a 9 year old girl died ] :
" IF I AM TAPPING ON THE SIDE OF THE BUS , SHOW ME A LITTLE COURTESY ... Some are rude and arrogant ", Jackie Baker of Providence said. " They seem to forget they( RIPTA Bus drivers ) are public servants " .
OTHER COMMENT BACK IN MAY
When Ms. Dolores Barry was
walking in providence she was hit by a RIPTA bus. She suffered
grotesque injuries to her back side. The driver told passengers and
more importantly, those providing medical attention, that he saw her
walk into the bus. She suffered from this every day until her death.
No charges filed against RIPTA, the driver, the rescue or the hospital
that was going to release her with no treatment. I had to show them
that she was injured, did not know who the president was, what year it
was and that drinking a small amount of juice would cause projectile
vomiting. This is a perfect microcosm of capitalism, Rhode Island and
this country. Human beings are treated like commodities that feed
businesses. Capitalism has become cannibalism. This is the kind of
corruption that makes this place infamous.
