Astrophysicist Neil de Grasse Tyson deserves his medal for getting the public excited about science. And he is a formidable antagonist of well funded climate change deniers. But as ubiquitous VOICE OF SCIENCE he lacks Carl Sagan's political acuteness and social conscience.
He seems to have no quarrel with our capitalist way of life. Unlike Albert Einstein, J.Robert Oppenheimer, and Linus Pauling he is no threat to our military industrial complex. Even Isaac Asimov was a sharper social critic.
And I recall Michael Faraday gave free public lectures on science. But Tyson charges $55- $80 for his road show ? No, Neil has no quarrel with make-a-buck capitalism !
