Sad to say almost every " socialist " sect is viciously hostile to God and Christianity , indeed to ALL faiths - for millions the backbone of HOPE in their humble lives. You could say that Soviet era " socialism " was doomed to fail from the beginning when the Old Bolsheviks - not just evil Stalin- made the Soviet Union " officially atheist ".
SOCIALISM can become a mass movement only if it re-constructs itself as a quasi-religious movement.
For me the New Atheism had a weird SATANIC stench to it .
