The real villains of the story - France's millionaires and billionaires and brother plutocrats all over the world- play act as the heroes of this cultural catastrophe : the nearly incinerated Notre Dame Church. What is the Yellow-Vest Protest Movement in France all about if not THEIR neglect of social services? I read that a very cramped state budget was funding restoration work for one of the world's most famous Catholic Cathedrals. An accident ? Perhaps but it seems all very suspicious.
One voice on the New Atheist ( old Stalinist ) Left reacted to the fire thus : " Burn baby burn ! ". In more vulgar language another writer said : it was just a stupid church !
Have the God Haters of the world ever made it a better place ? You don't have to be a
pious Catholic to appreciate the CULTURE of Western Civilization.

Ken Russell's film The Devils accurately illustrates what Notre Dame really symbolises - a beacon for perpetuating allegiance to extreme monarchist dictatorship ... so if you are going to quote a Surrealist please at least have the decency to end your article with 'Burn Baby Burn'! (I liked all the anti-Macron stuff though ]
