If you are appalled by continued homelessness in this society, why
should you narrow your ambition to " ending homelessness among veterans
". ? What cynical " patriotism " is at play here ? A homeless combat
veteran is more worthy of a home than a battered mother or an elderly
man in a wheel chair , a mentally ill person ?
Is that your foolish way of saying THANK YOU to a veteran victim of a foolish war ?
What is never mentioned by most " respectable " homeless advocates is that SOCIALISTS - perhaps Bernie Sanders- already have a solution to the homeless problem in America: not just TAX THE RICH but nationalize capitalist private property . We will quite simply -and immediately-put all slum landlords out of business.
Most people who are homeless are homeless in the midst of vacant and readily occupied buildings and apartments. As an analogy: under capitalism it makes no sense for an empty bus to stop for anybody who needs a ride-even in a freezing cold blizzard. But it makes a lot of HUMAN SENSE. And capitalism does not give jobs to healthy homeless individuals unless the wonderful MARKET approves first.
I know that the American capitalist system is doomed. And honest socialists will help doom it.
