As a democratic Socialist I can easily understand why poor black
youth are desperate for quality higher education ( In his autobiography
Malcolm X says " my university was books " ) . And I also understand the
resentment of poor whites who become invisible to " politically correct
" neo-liberalism. A Sane Society ( ever read Erich Fromm? ) would make
it possible for every young person to be as well educated as they can
possibly be--- given their interests, aptitudes, and the practical needs
of their immediate social environment.
There is nothing absolute and pre-determined about the division of labor in society. Under capitalism the profit motive decides " useful " work - an absolute waste of human resources.
Neither bright black youths nor bright white youths have a bright future under Endless Recession capitalism. We need " affirmative action " for social justice.
