Excuse me for expecting LIBERAL Democrats to show some concern for
senior citizens on fixed incomes and poor people in general. The Far
Right " trashes " Hillary Clinton for being a Marxist- a big lie. I am
hardly " trashing " any Democrats when I remind them of the New Deal
tradition-pro-labor,, a Helping Hand to poor people. For decades now the
neo-Democrats have co-operated with the Far Right in making LIBERAL a
dirty word. More and more they talked less and less about moderate "
socialist " Michael Harrington 's " Other America " and more and more
talked fawningly about " saving the middle class " . They no more
distanced themselves from Wall Street greed ( Gina Raimondo ? ) - and
Corporate America- than right-wing Talk Radio -which is a 24 hours per
day promotion of our oh-so wonderful CAPITALIST WAY OF LIFE.
Bernie Sanders never " bashes " Hillary . But his professed ideal of " socialism " certainly does. You can be sure the ruling class will nullify Bernie before the next presidential election.
But isn't Hillary preferable to Donald Trump ? Only a very low voter turn out will make Donald Trump the next president of the United States. Al Gore was also preferable to George W. Bush. Nevertheless I recall supporting Ralph Nader.
The only " progressive " thing Donald Trump might do is shake up the rotten two party system.
A registered Democrat myself, I voted twice for Bill Clinton -because of his-back then- very bold national health care plan.I voted for Clinton in 1996 because of the " vast right wing conspiracy " ( TRUE ! ) against him and HER, Hillary..Also, because ALL the left-wing political parties that at least had my respect had vanished ( the collapse of the Soviet Union ? ) or had degenerated into weird personality cults.
I remain a " free thinker " - ON THE LEFT. I bash THE SYSTEM - not individuals. Even Donald Trump at least speaks his mind- the other candidates sound too scripted- with the exception of " socialist " Bernie Sanders
