Syed Farook and his wife - I caught this bit in some on- line Italian
language news source- were " living the American dream ". So what
motivated this madness ? Are we to believe that Middle Eastern Islamic
people are as prone to tune in to wrathful Allah messages as many
Italians are prone to tune in to divine opera ? " Living the American
dream " implies acceptance of the phony mass media images of America as a
golden country of endless opportunity - a consumerist paradise- also "
with justice for all ".
Upton Sinclair's socialist leaning novel " The Jungle " was not just about the health hazards of the meat packing industry . It was about the profound disillusion of the New Immigrants in America.
Left -wing scholars have observed for years that fascism usually begins with the rage of the ruined petty-bourgeois. They envy the rich and very successful and refuse to identify with the working class and the have-nots of the world.
They are religious only to the degree that they see God as their ally in the pursuit of philistine success. When this false God-or Allah- betrays their hopes and dreams they turn nihilistic.
Capitalist America is cracking up !
