Meditating at forlorn Field of Dreams in Cranston Rhode Island
This melancholy ,almost abandoned, park in my Knightsville neighborhood of Cranston , Rhode Island was dedicated decades ago to a local kid killed in Vietnam in 1968 , P.F.C. Anthony J. Sivo . The background music is from the YouTube [ " Where Have All the Flowers Gone " . HistoricusJoe 333K views . 8 years ago ".]
My melancholy thoughts followed the music while sitting on a park bench . Nearby was a decaying and faded stone monument to the fallen soldier. Sivo and I were born in the year 1947. He was killed in Vietnam a couple of days before my 21st birthday :[ " When will they ever learn... when will they ever learn ".]
I was one of many of my generation who protested the Vietnam War. And as a longtime independent democratic socialist I continue to protest equally stupid future wars of American imperialism.
