[There was a time when atheism, if talked about at all, was whispered about in dark corners by fearful adherents. Now, it is shouted from our media, our movies, our book shelves, if fact from every platform but the pulpit. Christopher Hitchens is probably the best known and most tendentious of the God-deniers and his books are bestsellers.Chris Hedges is an award-winning former correspondent and author whose new book, I Don't Believe in Atheists, is a scorching indictment of Hitchens, Dawkins, Harris et al. He calls them circus clowns engaged in a celebration of ignorance. Worse, he accuses them of racism in the way they portray adherents of Islam. Using theology and life experience instead of bombast, Mr. Hedges takes on the new atheists with vigor tinged with anger. The trouble with atheists, in a few moments.
But there is another Christopher out there who has become something of a nightmare to Mr. Hitchens. ]
