Has my generation forgotten the lessons of the Vietnam War protest movement ?

Has my generation completely forgotten the lesson learned by the Vietnam War protest movement ?
Should mere passing of time lead to moral rot and mental decay ? ( think of the Clintons who opposed the Vietnam War. Bill Clinton - if this is not a joke - wrote a FORWARD for the 50 Anniversary publication of J. William Fulbright's " The Arrogance of Power " ) .

YEP ! :

[ “Fulbright was erudite and eloquent in all the books he wrote, but this one is his masterpiece. Within its pages lie his now historic remonstrations against a great nation’s overreach, his powerful argument for dissent, and his thoughtful propositions for a new way forward . . . lessons and cautions that resonate just as strongly today.”

—From the foreword by Bill Clinton ]
