I can imagine Hillary hoping Lincoln will save her from a stunning defeat
in New Hampshire by " socialist " Democrat Senator Bernie Sanders of
Vermont. Sanders is just beginning to draw excited crowds.
I am a registered Democrat in Rhode Island. And I applaud Lincoln Chafee for his opposition to the disastrous Iraq war, his principled opposition to the state death penalty. He abandoned the Republican Party after it was taken over by Ayn Rand cranks. Chafee-like his father Senator John Chafee-is really just an old fashioned liberal.
And don't laugh at his support for metric conversion in the United States. A number of NASA disasters were indirectly caused by unit confusion.
Chafee championed gay marriage in mostly Catholic Rhode Island. So in a way he is a " profile in courage ".
I myself still think Ralph Nader is more " radical " than Bernie Sanders. And Nader is right about corporate America effectively controlling both the Democrat and Republican parties.
We need a lot less of " lesser evils "
