Our terrible mental health
system ignores young drug crazed alienated youths too mindless to have
any particular political or religious ideology.
Ruling them out, I see the fruits of the hateful " New Atheism " in these violent attacks on Christian and Islamic religious communities.
The gay community must strive for peaceful co-existence with religious people. Most activist gays would agree with New Atheist cult leader Christopher Hitchens: " God is not great... religion poisons everything ".
Oddly enough, identity politics -the recent Supreme Court gay marriage victory- leaves militant gays politically impotent in the coming election.
I hope " gay rage " energy can be channeled into broader social justice issues.
After reading about the horrible act of vandalism at Our Lady of the Rosary church in a Fox Point ethnic neighborhood many devout Portuguese Catholic ladies -dressed in black - will want to light holy candles and call a priest exorcist to the scene. And I am not one to ridicule them... " The power of Christ commands you.... the power of Christ commands you ! ".
