Why no gay marriage in Israel ? Gay marriage supporters are turning Catholic Bishop Thomas Tobin into an
ogre of " hate " and pious intolerance. But I read that Orthodox Jews
in Israel are just as worried over the recent Supreme Court decision
which is a secular blessing of gay marriage. A Jewish columnist sees
that the wording of the decision does not " reaffirm the practice of
religion ".
In Israel there is no legalized gay marriage. Not even a state
recognition of civil unions. But there is no evidence whatsoever of gay
persecution.
Instead of sniffing out prayer on the walls in U.S. public schools
perhaps an activist clique of ACLU lawyers should set up an office in
Tel Aviv ? And perhaps even show solicitude for more than just gay
rights .
