There is an odd CLASS twist to this racial profiling controversy at Providence College. Those college kids and that black female professor can be easily classified as " middle class " or coming from middle class backgrounds. The male security guard is most likely an underpaid, working class guy , perhaps just " doing my job " . In demanding that evidence of race prejudice suffice to terminate his job, victims of RACE are hurting a victim of CLASS.
Will firing an overworked and underpaid white , branded RACIST , security guard-anywhere in the country - make him less racist in the future ? More likely he might gravitate to a neo-Nazi group. Think about it folks !
I don't think middle class political activists should demand that ANY working class person be fired. A manager is a another matter.
