The fundamental rottenness of " identity politics " was clear to this old socialist decades ago
. I was pleased in recent years to see my gut feelings validated on the World Socialist Web Site.
More than 100 years ago Marxist inspired socialists were in the vanguard of the movement calling for PROGRESSIVE new attitudes toward women as women, toward racial equality, enlightenment on homosexuality, attacking Dark Age remnants of anti-Semitism.
But all these various forms of oppression were put in context of the CLASS STRUGGLE.
What " identity politics " succeeded in doing was corrupting these suddenly popular causes into a vehicle for petty bourgeois social climbing. The whole purpose of corrupted " identity politics " was to smother growing CLASS consciousness.
Oddly enough ," identity politics " attacked everything progressive about Western Civilization . Poor old wicked Columbus !
All this is as obvious as 2+2 = 4 . But ask Winston Smith of " 1984 " fame if this truth cannot become controversial or just cancelled.
When will the ruling class ideologists run out of assigned IDENTITIES for you to hug ?
