Irving Howe got bourgeois feminism RIGHT decades ago

The New York Times’ Alexis Grenell denounces white women for upholding the “patriarchy”

The late Irving Howe, self -described as an old socialist with " A Margin of Hope ", did write some skeptical essays on the bourgeois feminism turning rotten . I recall liking them and liking Howe.
From an old review
"But Howe the cultural conservative is mute here: the Howe whose anti-feminist jeremiad “The Middle-Class Mind of Kate Millett” started a brawl with the women’s liberation movement; and the Howe who joined the “canon wars” of the 1980s and ’90s, lustily defending the Great Books that had been his generation’s cherished primers. "
Was Howe's " cultural conservatism " just plain sanity in the midst of madness ? " Sexual Politics " does seem very RIGHT in the 2018 , does it not ?
