Yes , " this is an emergency! " but in all these state and national emergencies, hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, there is little consideration for poor people and their families . It takes considerable resources to leave your home, take along beloved family pets , and whatever little possessions you have . What do the states offer - free public transportation rescue , trains , planes, bus service, free motels and hotels ? Hurricane Katrina was so cruel to the have-nots .
Then THE COMFORTABLE people ridicule you for not heeding WARNING.
The Capitalist system simple can't deal with real national and state emergencies. They will call in the National Guard mostly to protect PRIVATE PROPERTY . They will shoot desperate looters. What hope is there for average Americans to " survive " a nuclear attack or the long " Day After " ?
