When writing about the war preparations of U.S. imperialism the World Socialist Web Site goes right to the source , to the belly of the beast . This cannot be dismissed as " far left " paranoia. THEY ( the ruling class militarists ) are just telling us the crude truth .
Just last night I watched a documentary on the First World War - in the USA it started with Wilsonian blather - very effective in getting young men -more foolish and ignorant than patriotic - to join this mass slaughter in 1917 to make the world safe for democracy .

The young American males had to persuaded that there was a real ENEMY out there - the German " Hun " - determined to destroy their " way of life ". German Americans were persecuted and the teaching of German was banned in public schools ( how stupid ! ) .
But today in October of 2018 the mainstream news media seems rather lethargic about creating real war fever. Nothing arousing about these boring and endless references to " Russia collusion " in the 2016 presidential election. Are young people of military age seething with rage that " Corrupt Hillary ", " Wall St. Hillary ", " Hawk Hillary " lost the election due the machinations - mostly imagined - of the villainous Vladimir Putin ? Is Hillary our 21st century Helen of Troy - a not so beautiful face that launched a thousand nuclear missiles ?
Perhaps public support is irrelevant in starting nuclear World War III . All THEY need is the loyalty of the ALL-AMERICAN military caste and the fascist police state thugs to suppress the peace loving ( but REVOLUTIONARY) masses.
