As a democratic Socialist I can only encourage any and every advance
of human knowledge. In the final analysis, organized-and expensive-
science research serves all humanity.I would not make this mean spirited
remark : the interests of the ONE PERCENT is more important than the
well being of the " peasantry " - like kids poisoned by toxic water in
Flint Michigan- a gift of General Motors and their capitalist
politicians.Those kids- brain damaged by lead poisoning - might have
become research scientists themselves . In his book " The Demon Haunted
World " Carl Sagan makes the point that the common people -" the
peasants "- must not become estranged from the world of science.They
could turn on it- like ignorant and furious ISIS terrorists.
