There
is no point in calling yourself a " socialist " unless you challenge
and question the moral " legitimacy " of legitimate wealth. Clearly no
objective measure of human effort-mental and physical-justifies the
obscene inequality of capitalism. Even Robert Reich ( " Super-capitalism
" ) has called it incompatible with basic democracy.
No democratic Socialist will be intimidated by the long shadow of Mr. Taxpayer- the ogre who scowls at any and all tax increases for Big Government. This generic TAXPAYER is just a code term for the ONE PERCENT , the ruling class of Karl Marx.
No democratic Socialist- not even Bernie Sanders - will call off socialist transformation of our " way of life " because the ONE PERCENT sulks.
In general , the Ayn Rand Republicans have no quarrel with Big Government spending as long as it is for imperialist war abroad and the growing police state at home.
Bernie Sanders knows deep down that what we really need -and soon- is an American Labor Party-with a socialist program.
