There is a political side to this INSTANT MILLIONAIRE lottery mania. A democratic Socialist government will abolish the gambling industry overnight. No casinos, no state lotteries. Lottery mania is effective propaganda for FREE MARKET CAPITALISM . Yes, anybody can be a millionaire- in this equal opportunity activity. And the winner has the right to take all. The tens of millions of lottery game losers have a right to shake their fist at Lady Luck - and to buy more lottery tickets the day after.
If the ONE PERCENT added one new lottery winner to its exclusive club every year , it will still be many centuries before the privileged class becomes the TWO PERCENT.
It is clear to any thinking working class person that no extraordinary intellectual and physical efforts explain the wealth of our economic elite. Its wealth is a product of class exploitation.
A socialist government will simply take command of all that " surplus value ". And there will be no radio and TV celebrity news anchors pimping state lotteries ( On morning radio that Gene Valicenti sounds like an effete carnival barker, getting listeners all excited over lucky liquor stores.
