Longing for the old Cuba ? I am pleased that the U.S. and Cuba have begun to " normalize "
relations. There is nothing but pointless anti-socialist malice in the
long and cruel embargo. Who really believes that America just can't
stomach regimes that violate our sacrosanct principles of freedom and
democracy ? Of course, we tried to punish the fascist Pinochet of Chile
just as much as the communist Castro of Cuba. Right wing dictatorships
are as abominable and detestable to us as any leftist " totalitarian "
regimes?
I hope the formerly affluent Cuban immigrants never
see any " socialized " property returned to them. They became rich
Cubans by siding with American imperialism, by exploiting the poor and
oppressed masses of Cuba.
They languish with a longing for the
glory days of Batista decadence. They don't even see the rottenness of
American capitalism today. The socialist idealism of " Che " is alien to
them. They dream slum lord dreams . Viva the Cuban Revolution !
