Every August 6th the United States should apologize to Japan

No need for atomic bombs on Japan  As a citizen of the United States I think my country should humbly apologize every August 6th to the people of Japan for terrible crimes against humanity: the atomic bombing of the two Japanese cities Hiroshima and Nagasaki. One American historian, Howard Zinn, the leftist author of the popular " People's History of the United States ", pointed out that the war was ,in fact, over. And what need was there to invade the island nation ?
Was our victorious imperialism morally superior to Japan's defeated imperialism ?
I am ashamed to say that I live in the only state, Rhode Island, that still celebrates August 11 as Victory Day [victory over Japan ].-many years after friendly relations have been established with Japan.
Abe is right about the younger generation not having any guilt for the distant past. This is also true of the young people of Germany.
What has to be revived in my mind is the spirit of socialist internationalism.
Even in the matter of saving the environment the Good Earth is One.
