Most family pets are the soul
of kindness and affection. Even dogs bred for " viciousness "-like pit
bulls- can be " hopelessly devoted to YOU " right to the end of their
canine existence.
But a Nova program I watched last night, " Cracking the Genetic Code ", will convince even intelligent religious people that NATURE is fundamentally DUMB. The DNA code " knows " how to make a beautiful child but not how to fix a broken wounded one.
We must never lose faith in human compassion and intelligence-which might be the ONLY gift of an inscrutable God.
