I have been curious about the wife of Senator Sanders. As a democratic
Socialist myself ( sadly " independent " ) I am pleased that ONE
Democratic Party outsider- " insider " is -in the manner of FDR -giving
hell to the American plutocracy.
I am not surprised that " socialist " Sanders has a deep regard for the memory of one Eugene V. Debs. Debs ran for president too several times. A century ago socialism was nothing less than a mass movement in this country.
There really should be more independent third parties in the United States. Alas, the only ones I knew quickly degenerated into personality cults.
So I give " critical support " to Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont.
And like his wife I too am impressed with the social philosophy of Pope Francis.
And I am turned off by the Catholic bashing " New Atheism ".
Irving Stone wrote a novel based on the life of Eugene V. Debs as a married man. HIS wife I suspect drove him to drink. Mrs. Debs was no fan of " socialism ". Even today most wives prefer " consumerism "
Go Bernie,go !
