What makes it so difficult to find homes for homeless people is that
the state has too much respect for private property. A socialist
government would simply order the " owner " of a hotel with vacant rooms
to shelter the homeless-and do it cheaply. It would soon end the
capitalist real estate business.
[ Ron, I don't know very much about Senator Sanders. Is "ordering the
owner of a hotel with vacant rooms to shelter homeless-and do it
cheaply" the type of behavior Senator Sanders would be advocating?]
There are very many different shades of " socialist ". Senator Bernie
Sanders is really closer to a New Deal reformer than a militant
socialist. But since the right wing is calling President Obama a "
socialist ", calling Hillary a " socialist ", I think Bernie must seem a
dangerous Bolshevik to them.
In principle ANY socialist must question private property rights under capitalism. We must have a national debate on the very legitimacy of" legitimate ". wealth.
I do not scorn any New Deal type reforms of capitalism.Do you think we would ever get a referendum on capitalism ?
