Scary incident on RIPT 21 bus - worthy of H.P. Lovecraft's beloved " Providence "

This was definitely STATE POLICE NEWS yesterday if not reported in the Providence Journal. I was one of many on RIPTA bus 21( I got on at Garden City , Cranston ) yesterday afternoon between 12;30 and 1:00 pm . A drunk and disorderly middle aged man ( looking homeless with a large bag ) starting  ranting at passengers ( with frequent racial slurs and a sexual orientation slur directed at the female bus driver ).

The alarmed bus driver stopped the bus right on the highway about a minute away from the Downtown Providence exit. Then the " maniac " started kicking the front service door and damaged it . " You are kidnapping me " , he shouted. . Would it have been wiser or even legal to let the angry psychotic man off on the highway ? He had not attacked anybody yet and he could have been injured leaving the highway.

The STATE POLICE arrived within 10 minutes ( ? ) . The RIPTA supervisor on the scene had passengers fill out a card with an " incident " description. I said that the RIPTA bus driver handled the incident very well and that the poor man needed help .

Later that night a friend returning from Boston and catching a RIPTA bus in Kennedy Plaza said he witnessed a " dead man " being taken out of a bus.

You can  understand how Kennedy Plaza could have inspired H.P. Lovecraft's " Horror at Red Hook " tale.
