They will never grow roots in the real working class; they are all wallowing in some daffy personality cult with some permanent GREAT LEADER as BIG BROTHER Orwellian megalo-maniac . And an always small membership much like those " Clears " in the Church of Scientology.
No " dictatorship of the proletariat " can banish the religious instincts of humanity. And HISTORY anoints no one party or political organization . No " Marxist " leadership has a patent on socialism .
A great deal of EVIL in this world can be attributed to a nihilistic absence of FAITH.
The ideal of SOCIALISM can survive only if it transforms itself into a quasi-religious MORAL FORCE empowered with " friendly persuasion " emotional intelligence.
To be sure, the COSMOS has not authorized homo sapiens to gobble up the Good Earth with UNLIMITED GROWTH and FOR PROFIT CAPITALISM forever.
