Abortion rights have been a favorite issue on the militant- often " socialist -" Left for nearly 50 years now. The reason nearly every " socialist " party never gets off the ground , never connects with " THE MASSES , is not just the expected opposition of the capitalist news media the owners of which naturally love capitalism .
The always sectarian " socialist " Left shows a fatally persistent lack of EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE .
The arrogant elitist Left fails to see the passion - the LOVE FOR LIFE - in the Pro-Life movement. I think the Catholic Church would be wrong headed to again want to wield the Sword of Constantine. But I have observed these Pro-Life and Pro-Choice confrontations outside a women's clinic in my old neighborhood in Cranston, Rhode Island.
It was the PRO-LIFE women who were more WORKING CLASS . The young PRIVILEGED college women ( from Boston, I recall ) would shout : " Keep your rosaries off our ovaries ". Liberal myself on the abortion issue , I LIKED the working class PRO-LIFE women more than the snobby PRO-CHOICE women .
To hear a woman brag about her several abortions sent a chill down my spine . " A cold fish ", I thought .
It is wise for the Catholic Church to preach morality - pro-Life views - first of all to its own flock. It should encourage the old mystique of " un-worldliness "- among its own flock and NOT invest its spiritual energy in reforming Hollywood Babylon USA ..
Not by the damnable sexual depravity of some of its priests but by its feverish adaption to American Way of Life , to the vulgar " patriotism " of capitalism and its bullying militarism , the Catholic Church has nearly self-destructed in the United States.
In no way did Vatican II " save " the Catholic Church with giddy and trendy " Modernism ". The GRAVITAS is gone from Sunday mass. Facing the congregation THE PRIEST offers a vacuous sermon and tries to be " entertaining " .It was more sublime when THE PRIEST faced the altar ( and leave the hand shaking to bars and cocktail parties ) .
So much EVIL in this society , in the world . Have a kind thought for your retired but ever-ready -Catholic exorcist !
