Should the public schools
look for guidance in civics and history from a " special interest "
called the " Center for Freedom and Prosperity " ? How do public
schools teachers get so many " underprivileged " kids in America to
appreciate "how extraordinary our freedoms are in the context of the
world's history " ?
Encourage critical thinking skills ? Like asking : does the Congress of the United States represent THEM - the poor working class or even struggling middle class families ?
And is it not more important to know this about ancient Greek democracy-where it all began: it was not very democratic because the majority of that society were despised slaves.
Aristotle thought some people were " slaves by nature ". Our ONE PERCENT plutocracy would agree.
Perhaps American school kids might be turned on by the truth ? Let them read excerpts of Howard Zinn's " People's History of the United States ".
