Trotsky said we have a choice : socialism or barbarism ?

Megan McBride , " who studies terrorism and religion at Brown University ", talks about " radicalization " out of context of world history, the history of the 20th century. In the 60s there was a world wide " radicalization " of youth. I recall the tumultuous year 1968. The Brown University campus was certainly a hot bed of this " radicalization ".
I suspect that  since the collapse of the Soviet Union too many liberals or pseudo-liberals have embraced U.S. capitalism and imperialism as more or less permanent political realty-have even idealized it.
Too many once left-wing intellectual Jews have abandoned their " socialist " ideals for an idol- Zionist apartheid Israel.
Islamic fanaticism has filled a spiritual void . Long ago the Marxist revolutionary Leon Trotsky in his writings vehemently opposed Russian terrorists- acting as they did in isolation from a mass movement of the oppressed and exploited people. Trotsky's ideas triumphed with the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917-led by Vladimir Lenin.
Before he was assassinated Trotsky said the world had a choice: Socialism or Barbarism . It seems the world of 21st century has chosen barbarism.
But the ideal of Socialism is slowly having a revival. Witness the Bernie Sanders campaign for president of the United States. And Sanders is an American Jew.
