Any
well informed democratic socialist-of whatever shade-knows that every
American politician who rises to prominence in the Democratic or
Republican party is essentially controlled by corporate America. As a
criterion for judging their CLASS loyalties I would also take note on
just who they socialize with. If those people fit British philosopher
Bertrand Russell's satirical description of " Nice People " , I would
expect certain treachery.
I hope " socialist " Bernie Sanders wins big in the New Hampshire primary. Socialist writer Irving Howe described Sanders own " socialist Jew " roots in " World of Our Fathers ". It is the Big City experience that crystalizes the life long socialist.
One radical asked what was the secret of victory of Lenin's Bolshevik party in Russia in 1917. He was told that these hardened revolutionaries learned to view human society completely from the view of the most oppressed , the people with nothing to lose, and even Jack London's " People of the Abyss ".
I might admire a socialist who frequently talks about " saving the middle class " - in the manner of liberal Elizabeth Warren. But I could only give him or her " critical support ".
No class conscious working class person could ever identify with Hillary Clinton- or in general with the goals of bourgeois feminism.. With a woman at the top of corporate America the bottom line does not change.
Feminist Gloria Steinem , a Hillary supporter, said that women get more radical as they get older. If that were true, why oh why should they ever vote for that Goldman Sachs cheer leader ?
