As a democratic Socialist and a student of American history-with
vivid memories of the 60s Civil Rights Movement-it is clear to me that
this historic movement succeeded in eliminating INSTITUTIONALIZED racism
in the United States. Is it the business of the State to punish
non-criminal manifestations of racism in the individual ? Endless war
on racism will not eliminate social inequality. In Rhode Island, for
example, the cry for a black major in the Providence Police Dept. will
only please the black bourgeoisie - and then only for the present.
The black community here should start thinking in terms of CLASS- and acting in solidarity with ALL oppressed and exploited working class people.
Listen to that " socialist " Democrat Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont on the race problem.
