Climate change has been a reality on the planet earth for millions of years now, long before the appearance of fatuously self-named HOMO SAPIENS . Trump and even some honest scientists can be forgiven if they are skeptical about the HUMAN role in climate change of the PRESENT .
Whatever its immediate CAUSE , WE as a species must adapt to it . Our" intelligent " species has its scientific knowledge and its advanced technology - but this is paralyzed by PRIVATE OWNERSHIP of the means of production and natural resources. Adapting to climate change is also paralyzed by the division of the world into mutually hostile nation states ( each imagining that it is more moral and " civilized " than the other nation states ) .
Unless WE dramatically transform ourselves into a really INTELLIGENT species , we will live to see a new Permian Dark Age - another " Great Dying " - while an indifferent cosmos yawns.
As the famous scientist Stephen Hawking said : " While there is life there is hope ". The only hope might be in the rats and cockroaches .
