No need to bludgeon the American working class with any " ism " even if they have been brainwashed against SOCIALISM by the most docile, servile intellectual class in human history. The American working class know the truth about their own lives . Just step into any capitalist workplace and the feeling of humiliation, oppression, exploitation , the feeling of UN-FREEDOM is palpable.
Just tell them that ONE PERCENT of the population owns most of the wealth - ponder this - and soon it is rotten capitalism that becomes UN-ACCEPTABLE in their hearts and minds .
The American ruling class promotes vacuous " identity politics " because their political structure needs the image of being something other than a bastion of economic privilege. Petty bourgeois social climbing gets confused with general social mobility. THEIR coming up in the world does not refute Karl Marx.
And what difference does it really make if THE BOSS is female or black or Latino or gay or lesbian or trans-gender, or from this or that ethnic group, if each is subservient to sacrosanct corporate PROFITS ?
Long ago our ruling class learned the trick of mesmerizing and stupefying ordinary people ( also " Dreamers " ) with all varieties of CELEBRITY . Just listen to Oprah interviews !
