I can understand those intellectual Jews nostalgic for a " way of life " fostered by Western Civilization that actually made social progress and the rise of science possible ; that encouraged free thinking and free speech. But what characterizes decaying capitalist societies today is the CLOSING of the mind. Neither the far right nor the pseudo-Left besotted with identity politics offer any enlightenment to the common people.

            Zionism was humanly excusable ( but still wrongheaded ) after World War II and the Holocaust nightmare.
The best emotional argument against Zionist Israel today is that it can only lead to revived anti-Semitism and a political disaster for the Jewish people.

          The internationalist socialists have a more cogent argument : In the last two centuries NATIONALISM has proven toxic to the human race.

            If ordinary people cannot resist drinking this " kool aid " ( a fanatical identification with one's country and ethnic group ) then another Great War like that of 1914 is inevitable. And with that the eclipse of civilization.

            Since the Cambrian Explosion of life a half-billion years ago there have been no " Chosen Species " on the planet earth. But OUT THERE is the Moloch asteroid . And a hint of " divine justice " !
