There was a bluer wave in very blue Rhode Island in the midterm 2018 election. Hostility to Trump was a factor in getting Democrat Gina Raimondo re-elected for a second time as governor of the state. She had no competition from nasty Republicans in leading the attacks on the poor , the elderly, the working class. Most of the " hurt " goes un-noticed and un-reported by the state's only major newspaper, the moribund and over-priced Providence Journal.
The Speaker of the House ( Mattiello ) regained his powerful position with the endorsement of the Providence Journal and a promise ( to the ruling class ? ) to hold back the insurgent, progressive young " socialists " ( !! ?? ) in his party.
And yet Bernie Sanders won the Democratic Primary here in April of 2016. The delegation to the National Convention -led by " Queen Gina " Raimondo- cast their votes for her pal Hillary Clinton.
The tiny minority of Republicans ( rather clueless at winning elections here since the Great Depression ) always complain that Rhode Island is damnably unfriendly to business. " Wall St. Gina " and Wall Street disagree.
