Cranston Public Library- a precious community resource

As a long time resident of Cranston I often use the Cranston Public Library Central . A precious community resource .

I have spent many stimulating and fruitful hours there. In doing " research " or just idea hunting I find BOOK browsing more productive-more serendipity there- than computer time.

The library could be more book-browsing-friendly-by locating more desks and comfortable chairs nearer the rows of books.

I also recall the days - I hope not gone forever- when libraries were open longer and closed as late as 9:30 pm.

I note that public libraries had a great friend in author Ray Bradbury. He was furious about the neglect -the under-funding- of public libraries in the United States. This has contributed to what the late Isaac Asimov called the " cult of ignorance " and the new illiteracy.

As a registered voter here I will always vote MORE for my public library.
