Cancer volunteer's letter in Warwick Beacon
I commend Ethel Ricci for her concern
with this cancer scare in Rhode Island. Medical research will support
the notion that a toxic environment is the big factor in creating these
cancer victims.
Just how safe is our drinking water ? TV and radio
advertising is always scaring people ( who can afford it ? ) to buy
water purifying and filtration systems. Are not working class Rhode
Island residents " entitled " to safe drinking water ?
Too many Rhode Island politicians are no more responsible to
the public than those scoundrels in Flint, Michigan. Unregulated
capitalism is being challenged only by that " socialist " Democrat
Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont.
We are " feeling the Bern " here in Rhode Island. He gave the
state's Democratic establishment a black eye in the recent primary.
To the Editor:
" On May 11, I will be at the Rhode Island State House to represent
cancer patients and survivors from Warwick to call on Rhode Island’s
state legislature to make cancer-related health policies a priority. In
2016 alone, an estimated 6,190 Rhode Islanders will be diagnosed with
cancer. I will be joining over 75 American Cancer Society Cancer Action
Network (ACS CAN) volunteers from across the state to advocate for
legislation that can help bring this number down."
