Maine Governor Says Government Shutdown Is 'Necessary For The Future'

  Why must  any state of the United States  have to endure an economic crisis as if it were a sovereign country ? Does the United States divided into 50 -even semi-independent- states make sense anymore in the 21st century?

My state of Rhode Island is also in big financial trouble. Which will not be solved by the " genius " Governor Gina Raimondo .

While we read about Wall. St. investors getting richer and richer, why should great states like Maine and Illinois ( and rhode island too ) be going bankrupt ?
