Free speech as Orwell observed is being attacked from both Left and Right

    No democratic socialist -like Bernie Sanders - will condone the disruption of any Donald Trump rally or any attack on anybody's free speech. But Trump just accused Sanders of being a " commie "

 .

   During the McCarthy era a " commie " was a " fellow traveler of the Moscow Communist Party which imposed a Stalinist minded tyranny in Russia-- which in fact betrayed the core principles of democratic socialism.

 
     The socialist George Orwell observed in the middle of the 20th century that free speech and free thought were under assault from both the political Left and the political Right.

 
    The neo-Democrats have been playing the game of " identity politics " for several decades now. They seem to attach more importance to race, gender, sexual orientation than to the " economic justice " programs of the New Deal era.

 

     They brand decent individuals who reject any form of " political correctness " as haters. They conspire to ruin lives and reputations of good and decent people. There is not a spark of the socialist spirit in them.

 
    So this anti-Trump neo-liberal obsession is quite hypocritical.

 
      In this ruling class war on the working class Trump is hardly a factor.To over-vilify Trump is to make his equally dangerous rivals seem like nice, decent people.
