Fascism begins with " liberal " betrayal of the working class
Democratic socialists have long explained that fascism is a ruling
class reaction to a profound crisis of capitalism.
Always it begins with
" liberal " betrayals of the working class. The driving force of
fascist movements has been the ruined middle class and unemployed "
intellectuals " and artists.
In his book " Anatomy of Human
Destructiveness" socialist Erich Fromm analyzed German fascism and the
" petty bourgeois " character of Adolph Hitler.
Most
German workers were drawn to socialist and communist parties. They felt
betrayed even by
their own " class " parties.
" Not every petty bourgeois could be Hitler " ( Trotsky )
