Brown lecture on Putin's Russia- election is also risky business in the United States

Putin lecture at Brown University
Elections are also risky for the American ruling class. Consider the shocking popularity of quasi-fascist Donald Trump-- and on the left, the popularity of " socialist " Bernie Sanders.

Putin's oligarchy wants to  bury the memory of the Russian Revolution of 1917. But the collapse of the old Stalinist Soviet Union did not silence the international voice of democratic socialism.

In the Russia of the new century a rational belief in historical materialism was replaced by a superstitious belief in the eternity of the Stock Market and the capitalist profit system ?

I ask this question as a critical supporter of Democrat Bernie Sanders. I recall that a Bolshevik leader , the exiled Leon Trotsky, predicted way back the 1930s, in " The Revolution Betrayed ", that the Stalinist bureaucracy would actually restore capitalism to the Soviet Union -making the betrayal of the Russian working class complete.

What type of " democracy " does the United States offer the world ? What the anti-establishment voters here see today ? Hillary for president ?
