Dawson letter: Gina Raimondo far left?

Providence Journal letter writer John F. Dawson ("Raimondo supporter typical of far left", October 6) clearly associates supporters of Gina Raimondo- and perhaps Raimondo herself - as "far left".

Raimondo is, in fact, a pro-choice, neo-Democrat, a lot like Hillary Clinton. And no compassionate Catholic should want her excommunicated from the Roman Catholic Church or ostracized from the Rhode Island Catholic community led by His Holiness Bishop Thomas Tobin.

Just for the record : FAR LEFT is socialist-communist territory. I was a presidential elector of the Socialist Workers Party in 1980 here in Rhode Island ( along with A. Gagne ) and a presidential elector of the American Communist Party back in 1972 ( along with R. Marshall ; Gus Hall was their presidential candidate ). I just believed that these far-left parties had a democratic right to participate in our "democratic" elections.

Today, very pleased with the social philosophy of the Catholic Church, I would be content with FDR liberalism once again winning the White House. But three cheers for CLASS STRUGGLE anyway.

I don't think abortion is moral –certainly not late term abortion. But I greatly respect the wisdom of separation of Church and State. In fact, it was wrong for the Church ever to embrace the "Sword of Constantine".
By the way, reproductive freedom has not been an issue in Rhode Island for years. Gina has foolishly made it an issue with her in-your-face-insensitivity.
