Gay marriage not yet settled ?

I do think the so called politically correct left was right to support gay marriage. But silly and intellectually dishonest to sentimentalize and slobber over the institution of marriage. I myself, an old bachelor, believe that the post war Beat Generation- which included uninhibited homosexuals, heterosexuals, and bisexuals- were right about the inherently oppressive nature of marriage. In fact, the poet Ginsberg found a lot to HOWL about here. His friend Jack Kerouac just escaped having his picture in a post office as a dead-Beat dad. Beat poet Gregory Corso waxed un-poetic on Holy Matrimony.

Radical feminists quoted old Engels on the " bourgeois family ". Why did activists gays have to ruin all the naughty fun and make MARRIAGE respectable for the incurably alienated ?

I wish gay marriage a complete political victory. But for me legal marriage will always be associated with lawyers, divorce court, and PRIVATE PROPERTY fights.

Did St. Paul get it right two thousand years ago : " It is better to marry than to burn " ?
